Door OpenerSometimes a raised doorsill is what stands between someone you care for and the porch. A heavy rubber mat laid against that sill, on the inside or the outside of the door, gives a smooth way from the ground up to it.
That is what EZ-ACCESS made the TRANSITIONS Modular Entry Mat to do. Weighing 40 lbs and cut from 100% recycled rubber with a slip-resistant face, a single mat stands 2-1/2 in tall on a 24 by 48 in footprint; EZ rates it for thresholds up to 2.5 in. Is your doorway wide? Place two mats next to each other.
Higher sills need the risers, sold as a set of 2 at 2-1/4 in each. According to EZ, a mat, a set of risers and a second mat combined reach rises up to 4.75 in. Each piece carries 850 lbs, trims or notches around door trim, and comes with hardware for wood or concrete.
