Some people want a real power chair at home and still need it to ride along in the trunk. The Pride Go Chair is made for that double life. Pride borrowed the quick take-apart idea from its travel scooters: lift off the seat, pull a single release lever, and the base separates into a front and a back half (Pride Mobility). Of those parts, the rear half is the heaviest, at 36 lbs (Pride specifications).
Pride rates it for riders up to 300 lbs, with a top speed of up to 3.8 mph and as much as 11.2 miles from one charge (Pride specifications). Think errands, appointments and visits, with the house as home base.
Living with it day to day
Indoors, two numbers matter most: an overall width of 22.5 inches and a 25.5-inch turning radius (Pride specifications). Hold them up against your kitchen, bathroom and narrowest hallway. You can pick from two seat sizes; the seat swivels and folds, the arms adjust in both height and width, and there is a storage spot underneath (Pride Mobility).
For car trips, count every lift, not only the biggest. Besides the 36 lb rear half there is a 30 lb seat and a 31.4 lb battery pack (Pride specifications). If one person will load the car alone, picture handling each of those at both ends of the drive. Pride offers six colors (Pride Mobility).
