Harmar AL301XLHD Fusion: a 400 lb hitch lift with an extra-large deck

Size and weight tend to go together. A scooter or power chair with a long wheelbase and a big battery often needs both a bigger platform and more lifting strength. The Harmar AL301XLHD Heavy-duty Extra Large Fusion Lift is the heavy-duty member of Harmar's extra-large Fusion pair, and it has just joined our vehicle lift line.

How it differs from the AL301XL

Harmar sells two extra-large Fusion lifts and describes them together on one product page. They share the same deck, the same cradle and the same securement. The difference is strength: the AL301XLHD is rated to lift 400 lb, while the AL301XL is rated at 350 lb. The heavy-duty version weighs 102 lb once installed, a couple of pounds more than its sibling.

So the choice is mostly a matter of arithmetic. Add up your device's weight and anything that stays on it for the trip, such as a basket or bag. If that total comes close to or over 350 lb, the AL301XLHD is the one to consider.

Who it suits

Harmar lists this lift for larger power wheelchairs and larger scooters, carried with no modifications to the device. It is fully powered for both lifting and folding. It may be a good match if:

  • Your device is heavy as well as large.
  • Your minivan, SUV, truck or van has, or can be fitted with, a Class III or greater hitch.
  • You want to keep the cargo space and seats free for people and belongings.

Remember that the hitch and the vehicle carry everything at once: the lift plus the device. Your hitch rating and the vehicle maker's towing and tongue weight figures, found in the owner's manual, both need to cover that combined load.

Warranty in Harmar's words

Harmar's vehicle lift warranty certificate covers this lift. The main terms:

  • Not covered: labor cost, batteries, paint, rust and covers, plus maintenance or adjustments and defects in the vehicle itself.
  • The clock starts on the date of initial product installation, with the certificate returned within ten (10) days of installation.
  • Installation, maintenance and operation must be proper and by an Authorized Harmar Distributor or Certified Harmar Installer.
  • It transfers as long as the application is approved by Harmar's Compatibility Calculator.

Installation and pricing

We work with a team of credentialed local specialists to guarantee timely, safe, and optimal delivery and installation.

The cost depends on what is already on your vehicle and what has to be added, such as a hitch or a swing-away, so this lift has no fixed shelf price. The fit check on the product page takes your answers about the vehicle and device and returns the price for that setup. Delivery details for your state are on our shipping by state page.
