Bruno Elan SRE-5000: a straight stairlift with a slim rail

The Bruno Elan SRE-5000 is now on our shelf. It is a stairlift for one straight indoor staircase: no turns and no landing in the middle, just a single run from the bottom step to the top. Bruno makes it in the USA.

What it is and who it suits

The Elan is the simpler of Bruno's straight stairlifts. It keeps the features that make a stairlift easy to live with, a seat that turns at the top, wireless remotes and one-button control, and it rides on a narrow vertical rail. A slim rail matters in a busy house. The less of each step the lift takes up, the easier it is for everyone else to use the stairs when the seat is parked.

It may be a good match if:

• Your stairs run straight from top to bottom.
• The rider is within its 300 lb lift capacity.
• The lift will be indoors. For porch, deck or garden steps, Bruno makes outdoor models instead.

Choosing the options

Each option solves a specific problem, so it helps to think about how the lift will be used day to day:

• Folding rail. If the bottom of the rail would stick out into a hallway or across a doorway, a folding rail lets that end fold up out of the way.
• Power swivel. The standard seat turns 90° so the rider faces the landing to get off. A power swivel does the turning for the rider, which helps when twisting the seat by hand is hard.
• Power footrest. Raises and lowers the footrest without bending down to it.

Write down the rider's weight and how they get on and off a chair today. Those two answers settle most of these choices.

Warranty

Bruno's Elan warranty sets out these terms:

• Major components (motor, gearbox, drivetrain and static rail) are covered for life, while the original purchaser owns the stairlift.
• All other parts are covered for two years after installation by a Bruno Authorized Dealer.
• Labor is covered for the first thirty days after installation.
• Coverage starts at installation, and no later than 14 months after the lift ships from the factory.
• Misuse, abuse, accidents, neglect, consumables such as remote batteries, and reasonable wear and tear are excluded.

Delivery and installation

A stairlift is fitted to the staircase it serves, so it arrives with installation, not in a box at the door. We work with a team of credentialed local specialists to guarantee timely, safe, and optimal delivery and installation.
