Vive Toilet Seat Riser: extra height under your own seat and lid
Some families want a taller toilet without changing how the bathroom looks or works for everyone else. A riser is a quiet way to do that: it lifts the seat you already have instead of replacing it. The Vive Toilet Seat Riser is now on our shelf in two shapes, and this post goes through what Vive publishes about it.
What it is and who it suits
The riser is a composite ring that bolts on between the toilet bowl and your current seat and lid. Once it is in place, the toilet sits three and a half inches taller, and your own seat and lid go on top as before. Vive presents it as a way to make sitting down and standing up easier. The seat and lid are not part of the package; the design expects you to reuse yours.
It is hinged, which is a thoughtful detail. The riser, seat and lid all tip up together, so cleaning the rim of the bowl stays as simple as it was before.
Choose the version that matches your bowl: Standard for a round bowl, Elongated for an oval one. If you are unsure which you have, measure from the seat bolt holes to the front edge of the bowl. A round bowl is shorter, and an elongated bowl is noticeably longer.
A riser on its own gives height but nothing to hold. If the user also wants handles, pair it with one of the rails listed further down, or consider a raised seat with built-in handles instead.
