The CarbonGlide from Vive uses reverse-style handles. Instead of gripping a horizontal bar with your fingers, you push with your palms, and Vive says this promotes a natural, upright walking posture and reduces pressure on the wrists (Vive Health).
Who it suits
It suits someone who finds standard rollator grips uncomfortable, or who wants a light frame to lift into a car. The carbon fiber frame weighs 15 lbs and supports up to 300 lbs (Vive Health).
Features worth knowing
There is a padded 16 by 10 inch seat with a backrest, 8-inch swivel front wheels that Vive says suit sidewalks and gravel paths, and dual brakes that slow you down or lock the wheels. It folds flat in seconds for a trunk, closet or travel bag, and comes in black and gray (Vive Health).
How it compares
Vive makes two carbon fiber rollators. The Core is lighter at 12.5 lbs and rated for 275 lbs, with conventional handles that adjust from 31 to 39 inches and an 18 by 8 inch seat (Vive Health). The CarbonGlide weighs 15 lbs, carries 300 lbs, has a 16 by 10 inch seat and uses the upright handles described above. If grip comfort matters most, the CarbonGlide is the one to look at; if every pound counts, the Core.
