Seeing, being seen and sharing control: these four new accessories cover all three. Two mirrors let you check behind you without twisting in the seat. A headlight lights the path on a ComfyGO power chair. And a caregiver controller lets a companion drive a ComfyGO chair when the rider would rather not.
Vive Side Mirror
Vive's Side Mirror fits on the handlebar of a bicycle or a mobility scooter with large handles, giving you a better view of the space beside and behind you (Vive Health: Side Mirror). Vive says it widens your field of view, and you can tilt it to the angle that works for you.
Vive describes a clamp that holds the mirror firmly in place, and it presents the mirror as a quick install. Before you order, check that your scooter has the kind of large handle Vive names. Vive's product page lists a 60-day guarantee (Vive Health: Side Mirror), and its guarantee policy says products bought outside vivehealth.com are covered once registered with Vive within 30 days of purchase.
ComfyGO Z-4 Scooter Mirrors (pair)
These mirrors are ComfyGO's own accessory for the ComfyGO Z-4: a left mirror and a right mirror, packed together (ComfyGO: Z-4 Mirror Pair). With one on each side you can glance back before turning or reversing, which matters most where people and carts are moving around you. If you are ordering a Z-4, adding the pair at the same time saves a second delivery.
ComfyGO Headlight and USB Connector
This headlight connects at the joystick of a ComfyGO power chair and carries its own USB connector (ComfyGO: Headlight and USB Connector). Use it to see your way after dark, and use the USB connector to plug in a small device. Among the chairs ComfyGO names for it are the X-9 and its IQ8000 and IQ9000 lines. On our shelf you will find it with the X-9 and with every Majestic IQ-8000 and IQ-9000 model, PLUS versions too.
ComfyGO Caregiver Controller
The caregiver controller is an extra set of controls for a companion, who can then steer a ComfyGO power chair while walking with it (ComfyGO: Remote Control for Electric Wheelchairs). It helps on tiring days, in crowds and in tight spaces, whenever handing over the steering is the easier choice.
According to ComfyGO, the controller is made in a Bluetooth version and a wired version, and it names the X-9 and its IQ8000 and IQ9000 lines among the chairs it works with. On our shelf it goes with the X-9, the Majestic IQ-9000 AR PLUS and the other IQ-8000 and IQ-9000 chairs. Email us your chair model and we will check which version you need.
Using them well
None of these accessories changes what your scooter or chair can safely do, so the limits in your owner's manual still apply. A headlight helps you see, but at dusk it is still wise to ride a little slower and keep to paths you know.
Set mirrors before you ride, while you are seated in your usual position, and check them often rather than turning around. With a caregiver controller, agree with your companion beforehand on who is driving at any moment, so the chair only ever has one driver.
