Pride VivaLift! Tranquil 2: faux leather, three sizes

The VivaLift! Tranquil 2 is a faux leather lift recliner from Pride for people who like to change position through the day. Its True-Infinite recline can lift your feet above your heart, and Pride describes the motion as quiet (Pride Mobility).

Who it suits

Three sizes match three height ranges: the Small for 5'3" and below, the Medium for 5'4" to 5'9" and the Large/Tall for 5'10" and above. All three are rated for 400 lbs (Pride specifications). Faux leather wipes clean easily, which some families prefer for a chair used every day.

Features worth knowing

The remote runs the power headrest and lumbar, stores two memory positions and has a USB charger port built in. Pride says the lithium backup battery can still raise you to standing when the power is out (Pride Mobility).

How it compares

Next to the VivaLift! Radiance, the Tranquil 2 gives up the three heating pads and the Petite Wide size, and it is the narrower chair: the Radiance runs 37 to 41 inches wide overall, against 33.75 to 38 inches here (Pride). Against the single-size VivaLift! Elegance 2, which needs 14 inches from the wall, the Tranquil 2 Small needs only 13 (Pride).

Before you order

The Tranquil 2 sits close to the wall: Pride lists 13 inches for the Small and 16 inches for the Medium and Large/Tall. Seat widths are 20, 22 and 23.5 inches, seat-to-floor heights 18, 19.5 and 21.5 inches, and overall widths 33.75, 37.5 and 38 inches (Pride specifications). If the chair has to go in a corner or against a wall, that 13-inch figure on the Small is among the lowest in our range.
