Pride Victory Platinum: EZ Turn, Charge360 and full suspension

The Pride Victory Platinum (model SC710PLA) is new on our shelf. Pride states that it is assembled in Mississippi from domestic and imported components, and it brings together several of Pride's features in one four-wheel scooter (Pride Mobility: Victory Platinum).

Who it suits

The Platinum suits a rider up to 400 lbs who wants a full-size four-wheeler that turns tighter than its size suggests and rides smoothly. Pride's EZ Turn technology is designed to turn like a three-wheel scooter while keeping four-wheel stability. Suspension at both ends takes the edge off uneven ground.

Charging is easier too. With Charge360, the charger attaches by magnet, with no pins to line up, which helps if lining up a plug is awkward for you.

Key specs

Figures from Pride Mobility's specification sheet:

  • Model number: SC710PLA
  • Maximum weight capacity: 400 lbs.
  • Range (U1): up to 15.5 miles at 400 lbs.
  • Range (50Ah): up to 19.3 miles at 400 lbs.
  • Overall length: 47"
  • Overall width: 24"
  • Ground clearance: 2.75" at motor & transaxle
  • Heaviest piece: 67 lbs. (front section)
  • Weight: 145 lbs. without batteries; 188.2 lbs. with
  • Batteries: two 12 volt deep-cycle, U1 or 50Ah (optional)
  • Suspension: front and rear

The Platinum is a good example of how small conveniences add up on a scooter you use every day: a charger that finds its own way home, a smooth ride and room to carry the shopping.

Range and batteries

With U1 batteries Pride lists up to 15.5 miles at 400 lbs. With the optional 50Ah batteries the range rises to up to 19.3 miles at 400 lbs. The charger is 3.5 amp for the U1 batteries and 5 amp for the 50Ah.

Size and loading

Its footprint is 24 inches across by 47 inches long, ground clearance is 2.75 inches, and the seat sits 23.5 to 25 inches from the ground. It comes apart, but the heaviest piece is the 67 lb front section, and the scooter weighs 188.2 lbs with batteries. Plan on a vehicle lift, or keep it for home and local riding, unless your helper is comfortable with that weight.

Rearview mirrors and a front basket come fitted, and the compact seat folds.

Five colors are offered, among them Tangerine, Sugar Plum and Chell-O, each with either battery size. It suits a rider who has outgrown a small travel scooter and wants comfort for longer days.

Before you order

  • Battery choice: U1 or the optional 50Ah pair, based on how far you ride.
  • Lift test: the front section is 67 lbs.
  • Width check: measure doorways and gates against the 24-inch width.
  • Charging: if plugs are hard to line up, Charge360 is a reason to choose this model.

Before you choose, our fit assessment asks about your home, your car and your usual trips, and the shipping by state page explains delivery to the lower 48 states and DC.
