Pride Go Go Sport 3-wheel: a 325 lb travel scooter

The Go Go Sport 3-wheel (Pride model S73) is now on our shelf. It sits toward the sturdier end of Pride's Go Go travel family, rated for riders up to 325 lbs, while still breaking down with feather-touch disassembly to ride in a trunk or back seat (Pride Mobility: Go Go Sport 3-Wheel).

Who it suits

The Sport suits someone who wants a travel scooter that feels a little more substantial. It uses a delta tiller, a wraparound bar that Pride says you can steer with one hand while your wrist rests on it. That can be a comfortable choice for a rider who finds thumb levers tiring on longer outings.

With three wheels it turns in a 36-inch radius, handy in shops and hallways. It measures 42 by 21.25 inches, and the seat sits 20.5 to 22 inches above the ground.

Key specs

Figures from Pride Mobility's specification sheet:

  • Model number: S73
  • Maximum weight capacity: 325 lbs.
  • Maximum speed: Up to 4.7 mph
  • Turning radius: 36"
  • Length: 42"
  • Width: 21.25"
  • Weight without batteries: 92.75 lbs.
  • Weight with batteries: 122.25 lbs.
  • Heaviest piece: 35.75 lbs. (front section)
  • Battery requirements: (2) 18AH
  • Battery weight: 14 lbs. each
  • Range per charge: Up to 12.75 miles

Getting it into the car

The front section, at 35.75 lbs, is the heaviest piece, and each of the two batteries is 14 lbs. Fully assembled with batteries it weighs 122.25 lbs, so taking it apart is the way to load it. Measure your trunk or cargo area first, and try a practice lift of something similar if you are unsure.

Range and everyday details

The Sport keeps its batteries simple: there is one size, a pair of 18AH batteries. On those, Pride lists up to 12.75 miles per charge and up to 4.7 mph. The wheels are never-flat, there is an LED headlamp for evenings, and the foldable seat has armrests. Red and blue body panels both come with it, so you can change the color when you want.

Delta tillers are a matter of taste. Some riders love resting a wrist on the bar; others prefer thumb levers. If you can, think about how your hands feel after twenty minutes of steering a shopping cart or a bicycle.

Before you order

  • Hands: if thumb levers tire your hands, the delta tiller may suit you better.
  • Measure your trunk or back seat against the 42-inch length with the seat folded.
  • Check that the front section, at 35.75 lbs, is a weight you or a helper can lift.
  • Plan your longest usual outing and compare it with the 12.75-mile figure, leaving some margin.

Before you choose, our fit assessment asks about your home, your car and your usual trips, and the shipping by state page explains delivery to the lower 48 states and DC.
