Pride Go Go Elite Traveller Gen 3 4-wheel: EZ Turn travel scooter

Now on our shelf: the third generation of Pride's four-wheel Go Go Elite Traveller, model SC443E. It is a four-wheel travel scooter that comes apart for the car, and Pride has given this generation its EZ Turn technology and a redesigned deck (Pride Mobility: Go Go Elite Traveller Gen 3).

Who it suits

If you have been torn between three and four wheels, this is a middle path. With EZ Turn, the Gen 3 needs only a 39.2-inch turning radius, and Pride compares it with the tight turning of a three-wheel scooter with four-wheel stability. The Gen 3 deck also adds legroom and a textured surface where your feet can rest flat or along the slope.

It suits riders up to 300 lbs who want a scooter for errands and outings that fits in the trunk. It comes apart into five pieces by Pride's feather-touch method, and the heaviest is the front section at 36.2 lbs.

Key specs

Figures from Pride Mobility's specification sheet:

  • Model number: SC443E

  • Maximum speed: up to 4.23 mph
  • Range (12 Ah): up to 7.1 mi at 300 lbs.; 8.9 mi at 220 lbs.
  • Range (18 Ah): up to 11.3 mi at 300 lbs.; 14.1 mi at 220 lbs.
  • Turning radius: 39.2 in.
  • Overall length: 41.5 in.
  • Overall width: 19.45 in.

  • Weight with batteries: 103 lbs. (12 Ah), 111 lbs. (18 Ah)
  • Seat: foldable, mesh back, black vinyl, 17"x17"

Choosing the battery

Two battery sizes are offered. With the 12 Ah pair Pride lists up to 8.9 miles at 220 lbs and up to 7.1 miles at 300 lbs. With the 18 Ah pair the range rises to up to 14.1 miles at 220 lbs and 11.3 miles at 300 lbs. The trade is weight: the scooter weighs 103 lbs with the 12 Ah batteries and 111 lbs with the 18 Ah batteries. If you load it often and ride short distances, the smaller pack keeps things lighter.

Seat and size

The seat measures 17 inches each way, folds flat for packing and has a mesh back. At 19.45 inches across and 41.5 inches from end to end, it slips through most interior doors. Top speed is up to 4.23 mph.

Before you order

  • Choose the battery: 12 Ah for lighter lifting, 18 Ah for more distance.
  • Lift test: the front section is 36.2 lbs.
  • Measure the trunk against the 41.5-inch length.
  • If charging with stiff fingers is a struggle, look at the Platinum version and its magnetic port.
