Vive Health843 OA Knee Brace Replacement Pads Set, RightGolden Ally Pro: a folding chair with a reclining back
Golden markets the Ally Pro (model GP304) as a smart power wheelchair (Golden Technologies). It is a folding chair you can steer by remote, and Golden gives its assembled weight as 75 lbs (Golden Technologies).
Next to the standard Golden Ally, it adds a reclining backrest and more distance: Golden rates it for 13 miles per charge, against 9 for the Ally (Golden Technologies).
Ride and range
Golden's numbers are a 330 lb rating and a 5 mph top speed (Golden Technologies). The 12 Ah lithium-ion battery is 5 lbs, and Golden calls it airline friendly (Golden Technologies); confirm with your airline before you fly. Behind are 10-inch pneumatic tires; in front, 10-inch omni-directional casters with suspension (Golden Technologies). It needs 37 inches to turn (Golden Technologies), so measure the tightest turn in your home.
Comfort and extras
You sit 20.5 inches up on a 17 by 16-inch memory foam cushion (Golden Technologies). Golden also builds in its Smart Control mobile app, spoken alerts, lights at both ends, USB-A and USB-C charging and a water-resistant backpack (Golden Technologies).
Folding gets it into the car, but at 75 lbs (Golden Technologies) it still has to be lifted; a trunk or hitch lift can take that job off your hands.
Who it suits
Choose the Ally Pro over the Ally if you like to lean back during the day, or if your outings run longer than the Ally's 9 miles (Golden Technologies). Choose the Ally if a lighter lift matters more than either.
